The yellow cherry guava is more cold tender than the red cherry guava (and naturally more than the tropical varieties). It is a small tree, usually growing to a maximum of 4m with a spreading habit and glossy green evergreen leaves. This variety is more tolerant to short periods of flooding, and is slightly less drought tolerant than the red cherry guava. The fruit are reasonable in size, pale yellow and with sweet, aromatic juicy flesh. It does have seeds, but these are edible.

The red cherry guava is fairly drought tolerant, although some moisture during fruit set will help with the size of the fruit.
