The Corylus Colurna is better known as the Turkish Hazelnut. The young tree has a columnar, conical shape that broardens as it matures and becoming more pyramidal. Has elegant, long catkins in spring which then develope into clusters of edible nuts in frilly cups. Very hardy and tolerates most soil types including clay and chalk. In autumn, the foliage becomes a bronze-green colour. Rare and unusual and would make a good specimen/feature tree.
