Another Pecan Variety

The pecan variety Colby produces meaty thin shelled pecans. Usually, this variety will bear pecan nuts after 5 to 7 years. Plant in full sun, with moist well drained fertile soil. Deciduous.

Pecans have both male and female flowers, but they do not bloom at the same time. Essentially this means that a single pecan tree cannot self-pollinate. Therefore, plant at least 2 trees of different varieties for the best chances of nut production.
