The Forager's Whare

PLANT INFORMATION

Identifying plants is absolutely a skill, and one that you get better at with practice. Fruit trees are fairly easy to spot and identify, especially during the spring and summer months. Wild herbs are a little harder, and fungi is harder again. We recommend to go with an experienced forager if you are not confident in your identification. There are often also workshops, both paid and free, that you can attend to help your knowledge.

We recommend following Ōtautahi Urban Foraging on Facebook, and we also often share knowledge on our Facebook page too so be sure to follow these if you are learning the lost art of foraging.

In the Forager's Whare area at 399 New Brighton Road we will try and label trees, herbs and shrubs as much as we can, to aid in learning how to identify useful edible and medicinal plants.
